We think John Wallace was on HMS Lancastria when she was sunk by a German dive-bombers on 17th June 1940.
This was the greatest maritime disaster in British history, with more than 4000 dead.
The ship was taking the remnants of the force that hadn’t managed to evacuate at Dunkirk.
