Waltham in 1877

I’ve just posted a detailed description of Waltham taken from a Leicester and Rutland Directory in 1877. Click here to read it. There’s some fascinating information here, but the OS map that accompanies it is also interesting.

This is Waltham before the expansion of the late 20th century: a typically English village with it’s school, church, chapel, windmill and pub. It’s also interesting to read the names of the villagers at that time. If anyone has photos or information on any of the people listed, please get in touch and we’ll put them on the site.
